The museum’s main exhibits include a dozen dioramas of pivotal times in the life of the sixteenth president of the United States.  The Lincoln Museum is located in a National Historic District in downtown Hodgenville, KY three miles from Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace on Sinking Spring Farm. Staff are extremely knowledgeable about the life of Abraham Lincoln with many current, local family connections and heritage dating back to the days of the Lincoln family in Hodgenville.

Lincoln StatueThe museum building is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Lincoln Museum has two levels.  The first level displays twelve authentic scenes of great importance in Lincoln’s life. The second level has several exhibits, memorabilia, and the Lincoln Days Art Collection. Hodgenville is the birth place of Abraham Lincoln.  In the square outside of the Museum are two statues of Lincoln.  One represents him in his late age, and the other represents him as a young boy.  Both statues function as a reminder of the greatness of Lincoln and his birth place. The location is central to The Lincoln Heritage Trail, and the statues are very useful in depicting the humble beginnings of Abraham.  I found them very interesting and lifelike.

A wonderful, home-cooked meal was enjoyed at Paula’s Hot Biscuit, a famous eatery in Hodgenville (just around the corner from The Lincoln Museum). Located at 311 West Water Street, (270) 358-2237. Roast port, tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green beans, salads, varied desserts, iced tea, and much more were sampled by the group. Delicious!
